Elizabeth Shalders - Head of Not for Profit
Elizabeth Shalders is a Senior Associate and heads up the Not for Profit practice division for Lewis Holdway Lawyers.
She is dedicated full-time to practising in the area of Not for Profit law and governance, and has eight years professional experience in this field. During this time she has worked with small, medium and large Not for Profits, and social enterprises, with a strong focus on NFP tax concessions and governance disputes. She possesses a deep knowledge of the Sector and how it operates, having acted for a number of faith-based organisations, independent schools (large and small), public benevolent institutions, affordable housing bodies, overseas aid organisations, industry bodies and professional associations.
She has also been actively involved in contributing to the debate around the swathe of regulatory changes to the Sector over the last 6 years, through both written submissions and participation in consultative forums.
Her practical experience has been supplemented with notable academic achievements in the field of Not for Profit law and governance. These include authoring or co-authoring articles in Taxation in Australia and Australian Tax Forum, as well as speaking at conferences hosted by the University of Melbourne Law School, University of Queensland Law School, The Queensland University of Technology Centre for Philanthropy and Non-profit Studies and the Charity Law Association of Australia and New Zealand.
Elizabeth Shalders is a member of the Law Council of Australia Not for Profit Legal Practice and Charities Group, and the Law Institute of Victoria Not for Profit Committee.
