We want you to get the most from working with us. We know, from experience, that most issues can be avoided by clearly communicating expectations from the outset. These tips are ways you can assist us in helping you achieve the most from our time working together:

If this is your first time engaging a lawyer you should ask as many questions as you can.
You need to have all the information you can in order to make the best decision for you.
Be open and honest with us and tell us anything that could become relevant. Hidden surprises can be very costly later.
Our cost estimate in our Agreement for Legal Services will be based on the information you provide us.
Work To Be Done
Make sure you tell us clearly what you want us to do. If you are not sure, talk to us about your options.
We will only do what we say we will do in the Agreement for Legal Services. If you are not sure whether something is included or not, then ask us before you sign.
Some people like to talk, some like to email. Let us know what you prefer. We will always confirm your instructions in writing.
Bearing costs in mind, let us know how often you expect to be updated.
Who Can Give Us Instructions
If you are an individual we will only take instructions from you.
If there is more than one of you, we may take instructions from any one of you.
If you are a company, we may take instructions from any person who acts as though they have the authority to give us instructions.
If these arrangements do not suit you, please talk to us before signing an Agreement for Legal Services.
Who Will Do The Work
We have lawyers with all levels of experience, from junior lawyers to Directors, some of whom have more than 20 years experience.
Experience is valuable so we charge accordingly.
We will discuss with you who is best to work on your file.
We have different invoicing arrangements and we will work with you to determine what the best arrangement for you will be.
The options vary from fixed fee type arrangements such as our Legal Services Packages and retainers, to files where we work on a speculative basis pending a settlement, or arrangements where we simply charge at an hourly rate.
Discuss Payment Options
We invoice monthly or at milestones such as reaching a settlement.
We can discuss other options such as paying by instalments.
You may be offered a discount if you pay money into trust in advance regularly.
Expenses like hiring a barrister can be very costly so discuss whether or not you are likely to need hire one.
There are other lesser expenses such as photocopying which you will also be charged for.
